Or would you prefer another round of super league matches. Then playoff immediate eliminator matches.

top 6 teams qualify nothing more nothing less

I'd prefer just straight knock-out cup style playoffs rather than the whole 'you can choose your own teams, non-elimination semi's etc.' With either 8 or 4 teams.

Not bothered whether it's 6 or 8, but I don't think a team that's finished top should have to play 2 games to get to Old Trafford. The first GF decider play-off was always a cracker.

The only thing I dont like is the pick who you play part, but it may give the selected side a bit more fire so could be a good game. Without the top 8 a lot of sides wont have had anything to play for and attendances would have dwindled. At least theres no chance of the top 2 playing away in the 2nd and 3rd week of the finals.

I think the whole 'pick your opponent' thing is a bad idea. Mind you, it's bound to wind a team up if they get picked as the opposition is basically saying 'we think you are the weakest side left in the play offs'. Would be nice to see leeds pick someone like cas and then get stuffed!

It should just be a top six play off.



It's crazy that a team who finishes in the bottom half of the table and who lost more than half of their regular season fixtures could potentially be champions.

Think the top 8 devalues the true championship (ie the league leaders at the end of the season) even more than top 6 did. But TV pays and what TV says goes.

but my first reaction is that it is better because there are more games



the playoffs get the biggest audiences for SKY, and showing more of them can only be good for the sports profile.



also under the old system most teams that finished 5th and 6th just lost their first game and that was that.



also imagine how poor the last few games of the season would have been if loads of teams had nothing to play for. Bradford had a chance of making the 8 and therefore it was a much better game than Hull-Bradford would have been after the appalling seasons both teams have had.
