Think you are probably right though why anyone turns up for freindlies I do not know.



I know they are needed to get players geared up for the season but as for going to watch them...no thank you.

Everytime I go to a friendly, it's horrific. Definitely giving next year's pre-season a miss (not sure I'll even be in the country anyway, thankfully).

Used to report on non league ones a few years back....3 players with the same number on the pitch a mix of old and new kit and even if you asked people on the bench they would not know who scored, assisted etc...great stuff





Then again sometimes the league games were not much better and most of it was made up anyway (especially if the goal came just after half time and I was still in the bar!!!!).

Bloody hell, that sounds awful!

Did not mind editing the programme but match reports were not my thing and you could guarentee that every player would argue the rating he was given.

After West Brom away on the first day of the new season, I'll probably not want to go to another Championship game again.

Funny you mentioned those two teams actually, they're both games I'm quite looking forward to.

Went to Peterborough years back and backed our keeper Roger Freestone to score first at 100/1 in a cup match (it was a local bookies at the ground and they did not know he took the pens), didn't happen but went back a few weeks later in the league and he was 6/1 favourite....if only

I hope he didn't score in that second game, that would have been painful!



Does he fancy a game for us? We could do with a penalty taker.

No he did not then soon after Jan Molby came and the penalty king keeper was over for good (think he got 3 in total and did not miss once).



He must be 48 or so now and he retired from Newport with a dodgy hip so yeah I'm sure he'd love to play for you
