1) Nothing to "do" near the ground really. There is Twickenham and Richmond which are both within walking distance if you fancy a walk.
2) Avoid The Cabbage Patch and The Gary Owen (IIRC) and you'll be fine.
3) Plenty of decent pubs in Twickenham, I reccomend the William Webb Ellis (Wetherspoons) especially if you are watching what you are spending (pubs in Richmond are very expensive but there are some crackers, same goes for Twickenham).

| Cabbage Patch is fine and actually pretty good, usually a few quins before a matchday. Personally I'd avoid the William Webb Ellis.

| I am with Steve here....nothing wrong with the cabbage.....
Wetherspoons is cheaper, but I think you'll find more rugby fans in the patch.
You could always head straight to the ground as the reserve fixture KO's at 3.30 and the bar will be open for that.

| Being Twickenham all the pubs are sh*t. Probably best off getting to the ground early and making the most of the bars there.

If you're arriving early the best plan is to go to Richmond to start with and eat & drink in the pubs by the river, or the Cricketers on the green - either option is a good bet - then get train or bus to Twickenham closer to game time (only one stop, 3 mins on train).
If you want to drink in Twickenham, the part of town near the ground itself hasn't got much to recommend it but as someone who used to live there I'd always recommend a short walk to the the White Swan along the river (maybe one of the best pubs in London on a good day, 10 mins from rail station though)

| Listen to Hull Kingston Bronco mate!!
Richmond worth a wander, shame the weather not gonna be the warmest as the river side is very nice and very popular when the sun is out
Depends how early you are going to be down, there is a pretty interesing place just down the road from the ground, loads of stuff to do and see and easy enough to get to from Twickenhamn train station, just go in to London!!!!
If you are in the car dont drive in to the city, there are lots of places pretty close (within half hr drive) Winsdor is not far and worth a wander, kew gardens, if thats yr thing, you could even go to yr town namesake and go to Kingston on thames
