all Aussie coaches prefer the loose forward to be a workhorse the 'flair and quick hands' come from the half backs, this is 2010 not 1980

what Lynda didn't say was that Ian wants the two second rowers to give us an 'edge' outside and that would leave JT (or whomever is playing at the central defender role - thats a loose forward for all those stuck in 1980's rugby) to cover in the middle on attack and defence.

He also said that who he plays at second row would also 'dictate' who he plays at loose forward, in other words he will pick his team dependent on who we are playing where we are playing and the weather we play in, its called THE SQUAD SYSTEM.

Undeniably handy though to have a loose forward who can sometimes fill in at half-back in case of them gets injured, as we found to our cost at times last season. That said, that type would be a utility-type on the bench rather than being your first choice 13.

we have players capable of filling in at half back hooker and loose forward also players capable of playing second row and centre, also others capable of playing wing/centre/full back, in this division its a luxury having specialists cause if they are that specialised they should be in SL, again its a squad game with a lot of versatility in ours something we struggled with towards the back end of last season with injuries etc..

Don't knock it 'til you've tried. Have you never seen Andy Hobson playing at stand off?

I think the rider on that was 'if their skill level dictates'.
