Why was he such a bab coach, when on the box he speaks so much sense, and has such a clinical outlook on things, know loads about players, ie-gary wheeler when he said he`s been on his radar for years. For me he seems to know more about rugby league and how the game is played at the minute than McNamara!

Because, contrary to what some fans might think, the role of a coach is not simply to select a team and then tell them to go out and play well. Even the worst coaches are 1000x more knowledgeable than the uneducated public.

Paul Cullen was a good coach, just not a great one (like Tony Smith) and did a lot of good for Wire - who were free falling when he took over
