Note to Bets'y Bulls, it AINT JUST ME that don't rate him. However, in order to answer your question he looks completely clueless and out of his depth at this level. His passing game is crap, his kicking game is worse and his reading of the game is even worse than that. 32 tries at Championship level make no difference to me. There are numerous examples in different sports of players who excel at a far lower level that cannot make the step up.

I accept he may go on to prove me wrong and I really hope he does but it is hard to see it happening. As I have already stated, he is way down the pecking order for his own position that is currently being filled with a combo of Full Backs, Hookers and Centres (utility back). Which says it all really.

2 Friendly appearances and 2 SL appearances confirm alot these days don't they?

So far they have confirmed he is utter flaps. Up to him to change that.

The thing is, I don't think that Briggs is one for this season. I think his signing is more likely part of the long term overhaul of the team. You know, putting him next to Southernwood? Setting up a solid 6&7 partnership in the u20's where the results aren't as important as development and building an understanding.



As for those who are saying he's no good after 2 games at SL level, well, I don't think you can judge a player on such a short space of time. Especially given that those 2 games were 2 months apart. It's not like he's played consistently since the start of the season and been poor every week. He's moved up from the championship and that's a big step. He may struggle at first, but I think he'll come good given time.

I have said it before, I will say it again, I am stating my opinion, but backing it up with a few facts too. Just to strengthen my opinion of course.

Right now there is no 'fact' or 'fiction' that Briggs will be good enough for us, only opinion.

Haven't got time to respond to every numpty, but fwiw some no-mark laying into Herbert got a similar response as the one you've got from me. So the assumption in your question renders your question obsolete.





No interest in going down the road of banning people where it can be avoided, it's never been that sort of board. However, it's also never been the sort of board where we've worried too much about people whining about getting a raw deal from the mods. The policy has always been, if you don't like it do one. I don't think he was signed for the future at all. Think he was signed as a stop gap that hasn't worked out. He was a bit of a gamble after the bull had failed to sign a major stand off. He's 23, not that young for an RL back. He should be first team now. I know the interest from Bradford came out of the blue for Briggs.



Potter must have a real issue with him though to not play him Monday, after we were told Sykes pretty much won't play stand off.

But you are putting your "spin" on the facts. I have seen 1 of the friendlies and both the SL games. You lay into his passing & kicking game from your "facts".



I don´t remember much about his passing game from the Leeds game but his short kicking game was great. The Salford game everyone´s passing & kicking & tackling were basically mince so you can´t really single out Briggs.



I have seen enough to know there is at least a competent SL level player in there (& hopefully more) and how he develops is down to the coaching

I assume that the "no mark" that you refer to so politely is Bulls4Champs2010?



If so, let me point out that he is considerably more clued up on all aspects of the game than you are and is correct far more regularly than he is wrong. So if you view him as a "no mark" it shows what plenty of people must think of you and your opinions.
