| Quote penny for your thoughts="penny for your thoughts"scenario :- tansey plays at half back and has a stormer along side Horne, do we then leave Long on the side lines when he returns because the player who slotted into his position has had a good game?
'"
Long is out for a different reason than Tansey.

| Quote major black="major black"Thing with Whiting is that he's great as a temp we all know it his utility value etc, it's been done to death but thats it just on a temporary basis. I remember him covering FB before with a good couple of games then having a stinker. '"
You do? You remember differently to me.
Whiting has been very good in three out of the four games this season and played no worse than anyone else in the fourth. He deserves a place in the starting line up on merit because he's a very good player, not because he's 'temping' for someone else.

| Whiting was superb, FB could be regarded as the hardest position to play and he made it look easy. He has time, thats something you can't coach, he just reads the game so well.
No one has mentioned the killer ball he gives to Manu on this thread, he made that look easy. Who else what have had the ball skills to have done that, certainly not Washbrook who most on here have been clamouring for pre-season. Berrigan or Tansey wouldn't have had either, they're instinctive running types. I agree it's hard to know where to play him at present and it's about playing to the squads strengths. It's nice that Agar has this headache and its great for our club that we maybe have the most versatlie player in SL like Phil Clarke alluded to last night.

Yeah I do. 4 times actually and like I say did well as a stop gap but I wouldn't have him as our first choice number 1 IMO.
and by the way I'm not slagging the kid off, he would always be in or around my first team squad without a doubt.

| Quote hullbg="hullbg"One thing about Whiting last night that i would be critical about was his refusal to take the ball on the full, nearly each kick was allowed to bounce numerous times. Against another team those balls would have been higly contested.'"
let a couple of them bounce but i think that was due to Quins not kicking as far as expected.
Only one of them he seemed to really cock up , but made up for it in the return .
His and Briscoes ball return and work in the first half laid a great platform for our forwards.
I may seem a bit controvertial here but i would omit Rich Horne or bench him next week, just to keep him fresher for the Wigan game

Agreed - what he lacks in pace with his ball return, he more than makes up for with leg drive. Great metres.

Perhaps you could state which game he had a 'stinker' in, and what he did wrong.

I cant think of a spell where he's played a run of games at full back, let alone have a stinker.
Think Craig hall did and that was when his confidence was shattered before he went out on loan.
