Dangerous subject we could start going down the lines of football.Rugby is all about passion, heart, desire and pitting yourself against the best in the game. Having played in the semi pro game when on the pitch money is the last thing on your mind believe me. |

Going down the lines of football??.....I can't see how paying people to actually perform is dangerous 
Heart and desire is fine, unless you're getting paid exactly the same wether you show it or not. |

Interesting to get an inkling of people who've never been on performance related pay, and motiviating it is. |

Lots of sports teams do indeed offer financial incentives but before saying people dont have a clue i think you need to read some motivational theory such as Herzberg or Maslow around a hierarchy of needs. Herzberg actually makes a pretty good arguement that money doesnt motivate people but a lack of money can de-motivate.
My own personal view is that extra incentives should never be used as motivation, basic salary and pride in a job should be enough to motivate someone, if not get rid of them. |
