WE were talking about this in the pub last night. As a point for discussion has anyone else been dissapointed by the poor away following we have seen at the KC this season? I expect it when the Quins, Catalan or even the Crusaders are in town, but the followings from Wakey, Cas, Bradford and Huddersfiled has been really poor I think.



I don't think either it warrents the usual Friday night/Sunday afternoon arguement either because we as a club, whether we are playing well or not can easily take 2500 at least to each of these clubs, even if its a friday night televised game. Some have said to me that they find Hull a bit, 'Off the beaten track' but we are off that track everytime we set off to drive to the West Riding, but still we go.





There is not much that we can do about it I know, but we concluded that the best way to make a point is probably to buy our tickets in advance at our club shop before we travel. We then as a club keep a % of the sale ourselves, I have done it for the first time for all away games I've been to this season. Seemed an interesting subject Any Thoughts?

I know we have to go to Lancs on a friday, but experience tells me that East to West is quicker then the West to East journey , mainly because we travel an hour before snarl ups, as opposed to them hitting them first and there is more traffic coming this way

I have a few ideas why , I am sure non of which will be popular on here.

1, We do unfortunately have a lager than average section of dimwits that seem to think they are bigging up the image of FC by being unfriendly and somewhat footballish to away fans (regularly discussed on here)

2, Our past reputation and involvement in some of the more advertised issues / debacles in the press over the years has lead many to believe they are coming for nothing short of a good kicking if they come to Hull .

3, The citys continued bad press generally and the highlighting of our poverty issues , beggars on the streets, tramps on every street corner sifting through piles of rubbish doesnt help either albeit non of that is true but made worse in "outsiders" minds by programmes like when the Duchess came to town.. outsiders think that is ALL of Hull



Also for many west riding clubs and so on its a 10 min drive between them and not the trudge from Wigan etc..

I know our lot did it week in week out but thats why our fans are the best in the world isnt it/?

Away fans only have to sit and read the squabbles on here between each other to be in fear of travelling to the jewel of the Humber

its been the same over at CP the last couple of seasons IMO, away numbers dwindling. even the Yorkshire teams seem to be struggling to come over to us in the same numbers that we both go over there in.

Bad press for what ever the reason stops people travelling in numbers and for all the wrong reasons over the years we have had some bellringers of bad press in our city ..

or maybe its down to money, maybe our ground plays a part but that doesnt come into on your part. bad press as you say possibly.

It could be finances as well , you could be correct.

since the crunch became part of life we are out on a limb a bit for all travellers when added to entrance it is a cost the average working class family cant afford maybe..
