| Are we getting what we hoped or expected from Andy Glover??
I remain confused as to why someone who didnt follow the game and had only attended a hand full of Wakefield matches would buy the club.
To make money??There must be easier ways of making money than investing in pro sport, that notoriously swallow money into a black hole.
He makes all the right noises, but actions speak louder than words.
Some of the actions we have seen:
Releasing Millard and Jeffries -- presumably to cut wage bill?
Signing more overseas players, that are no better than whats available here -- presumably because they were cheaper?
Some of the words we have read:
The biggest announcement in the clubs history!!!Was it really?
We are close to a major signing, again, again and again. And then we announce its Tadulala!!!!
The guy is clearly very good at the pr side, weve had our expectations built up time and time again in his short reign -- so we will continue to part with our cash.
Personally i feel like ive been had by the double glazing salesman i should never have invited into my home.
Or am i being too harsh?
Is he really the Knight in Shining Armour that will drive us forward?

I dont see anyone else who is willing or able... watching from 13000 miles away I see lots of good stuff laying the foundations for further development...

| Hmmmmm. I am sort of starting to feel the same turfed out, but as Spook says, maybe we have to allow a little more time to judge. Would u want to throw so much into that black sporting hole if SL cripple your business in 1 felled swoop? I am hoping we will see better once we get the franchise decision. We are stuck in no man's land with no power to really influence events. We'll see AGs true intent whichever way the franchise decision goes

| In three weeks time, if we get a SL franchise, he'll be the messiah, and we'll see what he's really made of.
Until then, he's concentrating all his efforts into off field matters, which seems sensible given that the rugby is actually irrelevant right now. All the indications are that he's worked his knackers off to deliver a genuinely impressive franchise application - let's see if that's true.
If anyone's letting the side down at present, it's the coaching and, to a lesser extent, playing staff; that's been done to death on other threads though, so not worth repeating here.

Spot on and completely agree and if he didn't come in when he did and buy the club, imo the club would have been no more.
What is it, you believe he's not doing correctly, or what is it, he could be doing more of because from where I'm sitting, I can't see what else he could do, especially in the almost handicapped state where in , with the franchising. I think all he could do, when he took over and in the state the club was in, is to make the franchise application, as strong as possible and he seems to have done that and it's going to cost him plenty of cash in the process, if we redevelop Belle Vue.
Like Bren said, the Coaching staff and players imo have caused this unrest that seems to be appearing, with the poor results and seemingly poor effort because it wasn't like this, till a few weeks ago.
As far as the signings, we know that Hickey was signed ages ago ,so that leaves Tadulala, which must be down to JK. With Glover just being a business man and not a Rugby man, he must obviously take the advise from JK and Elston, so I really can't see how, who we sign can be put on his toes, that's got to be firmly on Kear's and Elston's.

| Bar coming in and just throwing money at the team, which was never going to happen and would be a bit pointless given the licence situation, I don't really understand what else anyone expected him to do. He's had a few months and he seems to be going in the right direction. Lets face it he can only really start to show us what he is made of after the decision is made and given that he came in and pretty much saved the club we owe him a bit of time at the very least.

I think you raise some valid points. All you have done is point out the facts as you see them . Now all we can do is wait and see if you are correct

fair enough, i have to say i agree with this.
as an aside, the whole feeling around the place is a bit down due to on the field performances. people say they don't matter, but they do matter if we are to do anything but just survive in the unlikely event we get a franchise. the onfield performances are depressing, but that’s a reflection of the squad and not simply glover of kear. my view is we should have done something to strengthen our squad to keep the fickle public of wakefield on side. kear needs another hand involved when signing players, just to help sense check things.
my views on glover are broadly positive. however i don't know the scale of his financial clout, and seeing as pretty much his first move was to set up a fund raising lottery, i have my doubts as to whether he has enough disposable income to subsidise his hobby of wakefield trinity to a point where they’re worth watching.

I agree that AG knows very little about the game. I am also prepared to accept he has been fully involved in the other off field side of the business. However it is his club and his money. He has trusted people to look after the playing side on his behalf. I don't think they have done a very good job for him and its probably just as well that AG knows very little about rugby because if he did he would know he is being shafted.

| I don't know what people were expecting when Andrew Glover took over. We were in administration with no chance of a franchise and looking at a bleak future if any future at all. We had the worst set of players assembled ever to play in the top competition, not by this regime I would add but by the previous.
AG inherited/bought what was a "bag of crap" and its going to take time to turn that "bag of crap" into a "bed of roses". We have improved attendances even when the on field product is not worth watching. Off field activities are improving. Okay some bad signings but don't forget Hickey was signed before administration and for what its worth I think with a full close season and some proper conditioning Hickey will turn out to be a good signing and remember Glover does not pick the team.
We now have a chance of a franchise, something we did not have a few weeks and for what its worth I think we'll get one.
26th July is our watershed. Judge Andrew Glover by what happens after then and next season in SL and not by what he has inherited.
