Win or lose, Brian Nobles love in at Wigan is finished.
If we were to offer him a new contract and he were to accept it would be embarrassing for both the club and him.
Like it or not Noble has touted himself all over the place. Whilst we have been talking to all and sundry about being his replacement.
We would look like indecisive fools and he would look like he had zero self respect (and I believe Mr. Noble has plenty of Self respect).
It’s over.'"
We know its over, once again thats has never been the question. Thanks for not reading the thread properly!

It will be great but the point is if we do win it then it will have been against the odds, which in itself would make it a sweet victory but Leeds have been contesting finals for several years now because they are a good and consistent team. If we want to do the same and be regular contenders we have to be finishing much higher than we do in the league.
Nothing is impossible and if Leeds do as I predict and play us v Saints we have our best chance in several years of getting to the GF. More so than the last two semis we have appeared in IMO.

The question was asked what if we win the GF under Noble. I knew most of the Nobby haters would turn this question on its head.
If we lose next week then none of this will matter but what happens should we win the Grand Final. That is the question.'"
Well the answer to your question is no, even if he wins the GF which unfortunatly i very much doubt, the perfomances and consistency over three years hasn't been good enough and in some cases we have been consistently poor, lets enjoy a good victory and look forward to next weeks semi and hope we dont freeze like we have in all the others semis we have played under Nobby.

I understand what you are saying re. finishing higher in the league but to be honest i feel hitting form at the right time is more important than finishing high in the table.
Anyway that wasnt the question.
If and i say 'if' we win the GF how would people feel about losing Noble and replacing him with what looks to be Shaun Wane?

Like every other Wigan fan, I'd be delighted to see us make the Grand Final. But even if we did, I want to see a new coach in charge next season for all the reasons already listed at length on previous threads. I'm not a Noble-hater, but I'm tired of the inconsistency and the lack of creativity in attack. Having said that, I'd love to see him leave as a Grand Final winning coach.

| Funny all the misnoma's surronding Noble and Wigan
Noble has brought a team boarding on obscurity into a team who on there day can beat any one,
We have played at least 12 home grown players this year most of whome are under 25 ( young players )
any new coach is not going to get new players according to IL so will have the same players to work with yet some like to think another coach with limited if any experiance will get more out of the same set of players.
Wigan threw the ball around and lost games the fans whinged and blamed the coach ! they then went a little more conservative and won some games the fans then blame the coach for negativity of play,
I think we have got not just the most experianced coach in England but one of the best ,yet you all think another person will be the great magician and make wigan throw the ball around and never drop a pass never miss a tackle and win every game we play !
I love Wigan rugby yet at the moment i do not like a lot of the fans that are stood or sat on the terrace with me on match days whinging is the best thing that some people are best at
I am sure that IL has so many applications from people on these forums for the coaching job as they seem to know the magical fomula for this winning team who win with a smile throwing the ball arounfd and not forgetting never lose
Oh yes i forget IL in my opinion acts like a fan with knee jerk reactions not like a owner of the club who looks at a bigger picture of whats best for the team and not just to keep certain other fans onside

This gets to the nub of the play off's as deciding the champions and also the format of the playoffs. When the team who finished first in the league was crowned champions it required a good start and finish to the season. One or the other was not optional.
Now in theory the 8th placed team can win the thing which by definition means they have been pretty poor all season. I would say we have been poor for the most part and it has not been good to watch.
So it seem to me the old format promoted excellence for most if not all season whereas what you are describing means we get dross for a large part of the season but if we win the GF then it's all OK.
Personally I can't reconcile the latter as making us a good team.
Quote Red Hot JalapenoAnyway that wasnt the question.

I think if we end up with Wane as coach it will mean IL has failed to secure the coach he wanted be that because they knocked him back or could not get a visa or whatever. What it would show IMO is IL didn't want Noble as coach despite the (hypothetical) victory in the GF.
