Any player found taking banned substances brings not only their club but the whole game of RL down.

Well this season goes from bad to worse. I can't believe it.



Now its clear some think Hock doing drugs has been common knowledge for some time but for those of us who live out of town they are just rumours.



In fact before people go off implying or saying he has been doing drugs for some time please bare in the mind the only facts are those posted on the official web site.



Any other suggestion he has been doing drugs for longer or whatever is out of order.



Same goes on naming any other players who people "know" have done the same as Hock.

I'm gutted, it's another sad episode in a bleak period for the club.



I just don't get it. A professional sportsman or woman has a limited career of say 15 years if you're lucky. Is it so hard to knuckle down for that period and achieve all you can both financially and from a sporting perspective?



Once you've finished your career do what the hell you like. Why choose this path when you're in such a privileged position?

I heard a few years ago of some players doing it, but as the post above suggests, there are things you can do to prevent it being shown up in tests

This needs to be dealt with by Rugby League full stop. Me and some friends were only discussing this on Saturday and the many fools who are on this gear and have been moved on from their various clubs surrounded by rumours of coke use. Its been an open secret about many players in the past and until the game sorts itself out this will carry on.

I will ban my young un from reading some of the comments on here -- cant believe people suggesting his crime is to get caught.

I've just looked on Wikipedia (although not always totally accurate) at the prohibited substance Benzoylecgonine. It says that it is the primary metabolite of cocaine. However it is used as the main pharmaceutical ingredient of a prescription drug, Esterom which is a solution for the relief of muscle pain.



Maybe I'm clutching at straws here, but is it possible that he's slipped up and taken the substance accidentally via a pain relief tablet?
