Scum Newspaper reports that Sky are looking to trial Live Monday Night games during the football off season. Salford v Bradford looks to be starting it on 21st May. Bit of a pain from a specating point of view but as a viewer it might work well. They'll probably replace Saturday showings.

Live games in front of even smaller crowds. Excellent.

Perhaps, but an average game would get more viewings on sky on a Monday night. Pros and cons obviously, but it'd be worth a try. Something different at least.

Sky want ratings, clubs want bums on seats

Sky pay the wages. Monday nights it is then.

But will those ratings drop off when the games are being played in near-empty stadiums, because no one can be bothered to go on a Monday night? It's not like we're football where I honestly think Liverpool or United could play at 2.00am on a Wednesday night on the moon with tickets at £250 each and still sell out.



We need games at a reasonable time in order to draw the crowds in. A bit short-sighted on Sky's part.

They will probably pick on clubs with large amounts of season ticket holders to make sure of reasonable crowds .



Monday nights would rule me out , would have to take 2 days of work as it would my lad as well .

stupid idea for fans who like to go.

Fans use a Friday night as an excuse not to travel. A Monday night would barely see any away fans.

Home fans wouldn't be as keen either. Disaster if this happens IMO.

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest, I'd watch my team on Christmas Day if they were playing.

So would I. The fact is some fans can't, the RFL need to put the fans and players first. Games on mondays does not do that.

What a nothing game Salford v Bradford would be to kick it off as well. If Salford get off to a bad start then a lot of home fans may have lost interest and Bradford fans haven't been travelling in any great numbers over the last few seasons. They'd try and hype it on Sky then the cameras would cut to an empty stadium, brilliant advert for the sport!

Another case of Rugby League fans never being happy!, it's unfortunate for the people who have to travel a long way to see home games, but realistically, how many home games on sky would we be playing on a monday night? I can't see it being a massive amount. and wheres the difference between travelling to leeds on a friday night or a monday night??... lets scrap friday night games too!... It's a good oppurtunity to show live rugby league on sky sports 1 at a time when theres not gonna be much else to compete with for viewers, the games might end up being played infront of lower crowds. but if viewing figures go up then ultimately that can be a good thing right? and give us good reason to get more money in any future tv deals? at the end of the day where would super league even be without sky?
