| Ask yourself this: If the Stoop/Area and the Quins RL moniker is good for what was London RLFC, then why are crowds/atmosphere far worse than ever?
At best, match-day is more like a face painting nursery for kids than a passionate RL match
To be honest the open-ness of the Stoop does not help matchdays either. The East stand is too far away from the pitch. Not a problem for RU, but for RL a vociferous atmosphere is absolutely critical
It will always be a poor second fiddle to Quins RU

While I agree that the crowds are awful I'm not sure the data suggests average crowds are any worse than at Griffin Park or the second spell at The Valley.Other factors also need to be taken into account. There is certainly no evidence to suggest that another relocation will improve crowds.

| On the Crowd debate the location has not made as much difference and there is possibly more related to the performance on the field in terms of impacting on the average crowds each year
Here are the average attendances for each season within Super league with location:
1996 5,418 Charlton 4th
1997 5,076 Stoop 2nd
1998 3,625 Stoop 7th
1999 2,935 Stoop 8th
2000 3,419 Charlton 11th
2001 3,177 Charlton 6th
2002 3,760 Griffin Park 8th
2003 3,546 Griffin Park 5th
2004 3,458 Griffin Park 10th
2005 4,038 Griffin Park 6th
2006 4,917 Stoop 7th
2007 3,395 Stoop 9th
2008 3,773 Stoop 9th
2009 3,436 Stoop 11th
If however you average out the crowd at each of the locations played at Charlton does produce a slightly higher average crowd of 4,004. Excluding that first year it is significantly lower then either Griffin Park or The Stoop though the achievements of 2000 and the marquee Coach are probably the reasons for that. Griffin Park had an average crowd of 3,700 and The Stoop over both terms there has so far produced an average of 3,880. If you break this down by the first time and in our current guise then the averages are 3,879 and 3,880 respectively. Though this years average attendances may pull that one down. Currently as Quins RL our attendances are no better or worse than when previously at The Stoop and are marginally better than at Griffin Park. The real difference is on the field and the rapid shift from being an Aussie team with little or no academy to a primarily British team with a strong academy set up.

A poster after my own heart.
What I would add is the 2006 attendance figure, regardles of what the record books say, was skewed by the ridiculous crowd reported for the "double header" of 12,301. Anyone who was there will tell you that there were more people in the 2 bars during the league game than were watching the match.
As I have been ticked off for repeating (again and again and again ) my belief that if the club don't do any marketing of note then we will continue to tread water on 3,500 or there abouts, I will simply add that regardless of what the new owner(s) think thay have bought, we will be looking down the same barrells of the same shotgun in 3 years time if they don't attract at least 1,750 to 2,500 to that average....and pretty sharpish too.

I was there and I wouldn't, but don't let facts ever get in the way of your interminable rants. 3,500 people in the bars, eh.
In fact, most of the Yawnionites were heading towards Twickers railway station as I approached the Stoop.

Swallowed a pedants pill have we?
2,878 is the average gate for Huddrsfield in London since 2000. (this figure is for 12 games and does not include the 2006 fixture)
2,780 is the average gate for games between 200 and 2005 (icon_cool.gif
3,075 is the average 2007-2010 (4)
If we are kind and report the crowd that day as 3,000 then the average for that season was 4,252 (14 games).....
The above figures are based on reported gates over the years and therefore factual.
Also, just so you know, The Kings bar holds 5,500 when opened fully (From Jesters to the far end) and the bar in the other stand holds 2,100.......so if the bars looked half full (which they did) then 3,500 supping ale would be about right
I get it BroncOnion.....you and others are tired of my interminable rants and if I am honest, so am I. But you dragged me back into this one and regardless of whether 1,250,000 or 3,000 people watched that game......an average gate of 3,600 since 1996 is what London RL has managed to attract....and that is why we are in financial stew AGAIN.

And if u are looking down the same barrells of the shotgun in 3 years.
Would it be fair to say enoughs enough, and at least drop down a league.
And give someone else a chance,Until you prove you are really ready to come back?

| Quins are developing the future of the game down south with fantastic results. That's why Quins will remain. Over the previous 30 years there hasn't been the same amount of development. Now this is in place it's all about the long game.
