As I have said before, I like Maden ,but it could be argued that he is not the same player he was in Super League. He was faster then. He is still being retained however and that is not something that bothers me. The Alstead going worse thing is a myth.It is all about staying free from injury and then being picked if you have any ability. It is hard to prove yourself in the reserves. Adam Higson , for example, came onto the scene in 2008 and I would say the vast majority of fans rated him. However, this year for whatever reason he has hardly been picked, so a lot of fans have said he is not the same anymore. However, when he got his chance against Sheffield, he proved he is no different to before. He is not a winger IMO, but played where he should be played, will be fine. Higson could not play well for the first team, if he was not being selected. Maden has gone well this year as he has PLAYED regularly. This is what players need. It is hard to prove yourself if you are rarely selected. Maden is not better than Alstead. We have all watched them for many years on and off now for Leigh and I am sure we all know this. Just because one coach does not rate you, as appears to be the case with Alstead, Mort and to some extent Higson etc,does not mean you have worsened. Coaches are human and they ALL have favourites, just like you and I. We have to put up with this and just carry on supporting them as we do. However,having watched every game that Alstead and Maden have ever played for Leigh, I will not accept that Maden is a better player and I include the games when Alstead has been honoured enough to be picked THIS season in that too. Confidence is a big thing thing and knowing the coach has faith in you and will give you a long run helps a lot.

I was told dave alstead walked out after the toulouse game he got fed up with millward and the reasons why he was not picked.

Interesting to hear. Did not know this, but would not surprise me. Do not blame him one bit if true.

Sad to see Morty go and Mike both very good squad players and Donlan cant go on forever, wold have loved IAN to have learned from him and took over, Basil IMHO has never given him much of a chance now has he. Any way good luck to the pair of them, where ever they go, and theyll probably score against us as will Nanyn too if hes kicked out too.

Can you say he's been kicked out if he has been offered a deal, but also told that if he gets a better offer he can leave. That would suggest that he has been offered as much as we can afford, but if he can earn more elsewhere we won't stand in his way.

Well for every try he scores he will more likely concede two.
