| Quote Scooter Nik="Scooter Nik"Dear god, talk about living in cloud lala land. Of course there are racist comments made at LSV. Same as there at every other sporting venue in the country. It's a sad fact of human nature that some people can't see past a players skin colour. If you wanted to take it to an extreme, then referring to someone as a 'big black b*stard' (a phrase I know I've heard at matches) could be construed as racial abuse, though to my ears it no different to saying someone is a 'big bald b*stard'. It's descriptive, not insulting or abusive.
If people are suggesting that is racial abuse, they need to get a grip. If, however, they are accusing us of making monkey noises and the like (That one hung around long enough...) then that is an entirely different kettle of cod.'"
I know what you are saying here, but lets just say of those "descriptive, not insulting or abusive" comments you use as examples that are ok for you - be honest and say which one would you feel the worst about if say the whole stand started chanting this at a player stood behind the sticks for try to be converted?
B*stard etc / Black / Bald / Cheating etc etc etc are harmless words, but put them in a sentence and it can be offending - I wouldn't feel confortable sat next to someone shouting this and I'd like to think I would tell the person this too - unless he was a big ***** ***** B****d!
As for our so called problems, it just shows what damage these forums can do. Also we can't ignore what happened against Fax, and them numpties who suppose to support Leigh look to have got away with it and have planted this seed that is getting beyond a joke now
We don't have a problem at Leigh, or at grounds I have been to in recent years. But we must never be complacent.

| Quote Alexs Dad="Alexs Dad"There are not many cowards playing the game but Wray's assault on Donlan was, well, cowardly.
The blokes on the ground having fielded the kick, Wray can complete the tackle easily enough but drops on him with both knees.
Like I said, cowardly. A cheap shot by a player who should be in a pub team.'"
Take a good look at the video here [urlhttp://viewtopic.php?f=31&t=461411[/url ( approx 1min 30 secs). Now tell me honestly what you see.

| Personally I think that Mr Wray did not need to ground Donlan in the manner that he did. His knees should have hit the deck first before firmly grounding Donlan with his body as hard as he wished. This would still have been cowardly as Donlan beat him to the ball but would have been more excusable and would not have got him the one match ban that he subsequently deserves

I think you are missing the point, I am suggesting that there may have been racists comments, probably not as many that are being suggested but you are totally certain that there wasn't.

Definitely connects with his knees (twice, in fact) in to Donlan's back before he even attempts to put his hands on him. And that's only the first incident, I thought the second one was much worse.

Honestly, this is what I see.
If Wray was completing the tackle he could have done it hard and fair. Tough game and all that.
But look where Wray ends up, thats the clue.
By going in with his knees his momentum then takes him 'over' Donlan. His knees are in his back and he's leaning over him with both arms 3 foot off the ground before he falls right over Donlan, not on top as he could have done hard but fairly.
Its not a split second action or change in direction - he's got 3 or 4 seconds to weigh up exactly where Donlan is going to fielding the ball.
Had he gone in with his body then he would not have ended up where he did.
What's the 'tackling with feet' business on 1:18?

| Must say that, on seeing the brawl again, it's great to see our lads sticking up for each other but my word they weren't half toeing the line - think we're a little lucky that the referee didn't seem to know of the 'on report' system (and hope it can't be cited after the event!)

The replay shows Donlan getting to his feet and at the moment before impact dropping to ground. Wray is already committed and does not make deliberate contact with the knees. IMHO the ref made the right decision, but depending what colour spectacles you wear you may see it differently. . Look at your player who is closest to the action and has a perfect view - he makes no reaction whatsoever.
Rugby is a hard game and we don't need leading with knees, feet, elbows, or elbows in prone players faces, fingers in eyes etc etc. Any player who is proven guilty deserves the punishment they get (whoever they are).
In the incident at 1:18 they are both going for the ball; one trying to kick it away the other to score a try. A brave move by your man and deserved the try.
I suppose all it shows is that we all see things differently.

| Dessie was racially abused wherever he played, good lord, he was confronted on the pitch twice by fans in his playing days! I dont think they fancied doing it again though
