| Quote Paul HHZ="Paul HHZ"Regardless of the OP's motives, there are some good points raised on this thread.
Considering what happened last year, the BOD have done remarkably well to get the club where it is today. It's a fantastic achievement. If we consider this as nothing more than a year of consolidation after the uncertainty of last year, then this years objective has probably already been achieved. The question now should be how the club kicks on from here?
A 25% reduction in attendances this season from last year should have the alarm bells ringing. It'd be interesting to know whether the corporate sales on a Friday make up for the loss of paying spectators, and if there are any better/middle ground alternatives (i.e. Saturday tea-time).
=#FF0000We've played more league and NRC games on a Sunday than on a Friday.
Looking at Fev and how they've kicked on since P&R was scrapped, it makes sense to look at what they've done over the last few years. At the moment they are the benchmark. Their crowds are up considerably and on the field they have been outstanding, on top of this they are running academy sides that are competing with SL academies. These are some of the things Leigh RL needs to achieve.'"

| This thread is exactly what Leigh fans should be looking to do and improve, constructive criticism instead of blaming everyone but themselves for things that have gone wrong or aren't going their way. Fev have done a fantastic job and they could well be replacing Cas at the end of next year.
Case in point - the bellend on the wakey thread who bought the aussie jersey.. jesus h christ.

| From a fev fan lookin at your club this year I think you should all be proud of yourselfs You were in alot of trouble 12 months ago and I dread to think how you fans were feeling. Now you nearly won the league you are one of the best teams in the championship and you could be GF winners in a few week the ground is one of the best in rugby league Regarding other issues I would like to see what your crowds would be like if you played on a sunday. As for junior set ups Fevs is second to none at the moment but we need to see what the RFL are going to do next season as S/L can not afford to run all there u20 etc set ups and I don't know what yours is like All I will say if you build on what you have done this season things should be good for you again
Hope to see you all Thursday it will be the last time you will be able to stand on the railway end terracing shouting your team on

| I'd agree the two writers do sound alike, but it's no crime.
I'll just leave them to their muckstirring. Perhaps if they'd like to use their normal login then their opinions would get read and taken more seriously.

| This was always going to be a survive at any cost year, cut costs and do a better deal with LSV. We have some positives to build on and negatives to learn from.
Positives.
1. We are still here
2. We have finished second with a CC run
3. Hopkins, Nicho and Pownall stepping up.
4. We have a far better deal with LSV - I trust it will stay until we reach SL
5. Next years squad looks to be shaping nicely
6. Junior Centurions back
Negatives.
1. No idea still how to 'sell' the club or communicate past the inner circle
2. Stupid fixture days/times
3. Dwindling support
4. Stupid ST policies
The positives are bigger than the negatives, but we need a financially committed leader to build on the cost based foundations in place, finding one will be difficult but I would imagine easier than last year.

| Fev have undoubtedly made huge strides as a club in the last few years and have stated they have achieved an average crowd of nearly 2300 for championship rugby this year. In addition, the crowd for the Keighley game was given out as something like 2816. Very commendable figures indeed. However, I shall note with interest what the gate is on Thursday. Leigh appear to be likely to be sending 4 bus loads of fans over there. It is arguably one of if not THE most significant home match for Fev this season, against championship opposition. One would think it realistic to expect Fev to at least hit their average ie nearly 2300. We shall see. All clubs at this level are struggling gates wise. It is a minor miracle that many continue to survive IMO.

I wouldnt pay any attention to the announced gate on Thurs, its a shared gate after all. Every team does it for me its part of the perk of finishing high up the league to guarantee a home draw

1. No idea still how to 'sell' the club or communicate past the inner circle - =#FF0000Surely Comms have improved? i.e. (Radio station; two websites in parallel; (LC & LeighLife) better coverage in local paper.) Nevertheless, there is always room for more improvement.
2. Stupid fixture days/times. =#FF0000Some of those days are as a result of other factors - Thursday TV coverage; (an awful day to have a match imo) Pitch maintenance for five weeks; sharing a stadium with another Championship team. The current questionnaire is addressing fans' choices - it'll be interesting to see what the split of days is.
3. Dwindling support - =#FF0000A huge problem that we must try to solve - and then bottle the solution and sell it to others!
4. Stupid ST policies - =#FF0000Hopefully S/T ranges/prices will be simplified for this coming season, and announced soon

Please don't think I'm trying to knock your 'negatives'. You are not alone in voicing many of them. I am just trying to shed a little light on some of them.

| IMO our attendances have suffered due to the number of north west teams in the league, there are 8/10 Yorkshire teams in the league and only Halifax and Swindon bring a decent following to the LSV

| Same number of NW teams last year, one less Cumbrian.
Fev and Batley brought a few also, confident it would have been a lot more for Fev, Fax and Batley on a Sunday, great following from Wiltshire though.

Don't think we are arguing opposites here - although I wouldn't want to 'buy' Sheffield's plan for increasing attendances. Theirs went down too, and are only averaging 1178 for Championship games.
