Quite enjoyed the fellow who was coming round with a bucket asking for donations as "were in financial trouble". I dont know if they heard my laughter in Libya. Who's fault is it that theres financial trouble? Rule no.1 of money, dont spend more than you have.



We get by by not paying players over the odds and managing the money that we have. Yes our crowds arent great but our corporate side is going nicely thank you.



As regards the away support, yes it rubbish, we all know that. But ive done my bit, i havent missed a game (home or away) for eight years. We try to generate more support but its very difficult in a city where we play every other sport that pretty much exists.



I wish you the best for the rest of the season, youve the basis of a good side there. Are you full-time?

You obviously manage your money well, what were you're grants used for again. Obviously not your academy who were absolutely tonked by a welsh team

What grants are they? We arent a development club.



Our academy is still very much a work in progress, i watch them regular and whilst we arent competing with the best yet we are slowly getting there, its gotta start somewhere. You forget that just eleven years ago we didnt exist. One thing at a time.....

sorry to disappoint you but the 'bucket collection' was nothing to do with our finances it was our way of the fans saying thanks to the players for winning the cup, and no we are not nor have we been since 2005 full time.

Before I start I just want to say I have huge respect for Leigh. I'm from St Helens, big Saints fan and have lived in Sheffield for the past three years & started following the Eagles last year.



I was their today and I know Eagles away support is pretty grim but is their really need to moan and point fun at it? I know it's not great to generate an atmosphere without away support but apart from clapping and that (quite funny) Nanyn song their was hardly any today. Also don't question a team's financial state when yours isn't so rosey either.



Saddens me that two sets of fans have to point fun at one another for things such as finances and support when both have had (and in Leigh's case off the field) ARE having tough times at the moment.



I've seen people make fun about Sheffield playing lots of overseas player and no "club developed" players but Armstrong, Ellis & Evans etc are all dual reg SL products with older players Nanyn, Hunter-Paul etc all coming from SL clubs...



Also just to point out Sheffield aren't a development club, I wish they was and received help like Quins & Crusaders got because I believe n a big city with a huge catchment area and both football sides in League 1 RL could really kick off here..



Anyway, semi-rant over. Don't goad each other and bicker. By enlarge Leigh and Sheffield fans are a really good bunch compared to few other Championship sides I've come across. It was a good game today and I speak for most Eagles fans when I say I'm happy with a bonus point after the points you've shipped against us this year.

Liam, I really appreciate the constructive tone of your post. But surely you understand that clubs like Leigh (and there are not many of them about in the Championship) are, in a small way, helping to finance clubs like yours with away fan attendance, which is not coming close to being reciprocated.



I wouldn't say its moaning or pointing fun (pointing fingers?) more bafflement and the sheer lack of size of it.

Ellis is,nt a dual contract player he signed a 12 month deal..
