I have been told that Sale are keen but want priority on fixtures. This means we would not be able to play Fridays Jan - Easter nor in late August - Oct (when we need the Fridays for the play-offs
)'"
Well I think you can safely say then that Sale will be staying in their old delapidating stadium in Stockport then for the forseeable future! Could you honestly imagine the local council allowing a team 'out of our city' coming in and calling all the shots? Lets remember that the council are helping to fund this stadium with the primary objective of securing the long term future of Salford City Reds in Superleague, whilst providing a facility for the community and getting a return on their investment when the retail is developed. If these demands are true then I think this is an absolute insult to our city and our club after ten years of frustration, investment and hard work with this new stadium.
Maybe if Sale were to change their name to Salford City Reds to promote our city like we have done for over 100 years, then I'd imagine the council may be a little more understanding to any ridiculous demands in the next century?

Not sure whether what you have written HR is correct.
I understood Salford would be `primary` tenant and then there would be sub leases after that so the club would be in control. I may be incorrect but that is what I understood.

| Think this is to do with Sale trying to put Stocport MBC under pressure to come up with a new or revamped Edgeley Park.

I agree, it appears Brian Kennedy (Sale's Owner) as a shrewd businessman could just be using the JV of Salford Council & Peel, Leigh Sports Village and whoever else, to force Stockport council to offer some funding to help redevelop Edgeley Park. I think this could explain why we are hearing rumours of ridiculous demands because Sale have no intention of coming to Barton.
I don't know if this is true but I'm told that Brian Kennedy owns or has shares in the company that have the catering contract for the matchday hospitality at Edgeley Park. If this is correct I doubt it would be in his financial interests to move away from Stockport, especially when you consider he had to take out a 4m loan to buy the ground?
There are plans that already exist for redeveloping Edgeley Park and the surrounding area (See link)

| Two issues and a side comment.
Salford Council are facing very serious cuts and are also only part of the owning partnership. They, as part of this partnership, will sell a lease to anyone who puts up the money, fits the "high status sports club" tickboxes, and cab attract investment into Salford (if only from burger vans). Remember Sale moved into Stockport (from Trafford) and did not rename themselves at all.
If we are "primary tenants", we have advantages in priority use that could be bargained away : we may agree to giving up in return for the finances that could repay those who so heavily loaned money to the club.
Side comment: there is a rumour Kennedy is willing to sell Sale.
Re Stockport/Edgeley (I work 1/2 mile from the ground): believe me they are not popular.

I heard he was looking to sell out several months ago but I am told that his enthusiasm has returned recently since his son Jonny Kennedy became a regular in the Sharks first team.

| This new stadium when built will be yours, in my opinion you should keep it to your selves as we intend to (cas) when built. Dont you just love the way those that are renting soccer grounds or share with the dark side are so jealous of teams with their own ground.
Good luck with the build and keep all lodgers out of YOUR new stadium
Heppy missed him, honest guv

| Get real, the stadium will not pay for itself on 3500 fans, great opportunity if true, Leeds rugby league share with union side, see no problem with such a venture, lets get into the real world, we don't have enough support to to have the stadium to ourselves & don't think United reserves or Swinton rugby league or FC united will generate the real income needed.

I have a feeling the crowds will be slightly higher than 3500 when we move into the new stadium.

| Not sure how wealthy Brain Kennedy is, but what if Sale did move in, he liked the place, and so made a bid to a cash strapped local authority and a property development company to buy the stadium?
