| you obviously didn't read the link. There is a real danger the federal Govt will add to the State tax woes of LC's. Whilst some of them are still making some profit many are already facing financial tough times, including Paramatta. I don;t see any NRL clubs grants going up, do you? The costs of running an NRL club are going up, the LC's profits are going down. the well is drying up!

im in the property market mate, i know what the land value is of these things.
you are talking about massive complexes.
'"
I'm glad you mentioned property values. You [ido[/i realise that they would have to sell that land to realise it's value? Or should I say it's nominal value? Like the former rubbish tip adjacent to Cronulla Leagues which is [unominally[/u worth tens of millions, but they can't get resedential development permits so no-one wants to buy it?
The fact is that most of these clubs (including Panthers) are struggling to deal with new taxes and decreased revenue because of changes to the smoking laws. Add to that the servicing of loans, upkeep and refurbishment of property etc. and you will see that the picture is not the rosy one that you paint.

forget assets, we're talking year on year cashflow. Footy club kindly gets around 400k from Leagues club this coming season.... to run 3 grades. Matts, Ball & NSW Cup.
As a member of any Leagues Club you'll receive their accounts. Look them up Dally. Any club you like and get back to us as to how much they give to their footy sides.

Just to revive the debate;
It seems that the "[imighty[/i" Panthers empire is not so mighty after all.
[urlhttp://www.smh.com.au/nsw/mighty-panthers-declawed-20100227-pa3g.html[/url.
On the back of losses for the last 5 years, the Leagues clubs have lost $11 million this financial year. They have been forced to cut the grant to the NRL side by $1 million, and I know for a fact that funding to their junior comps and local development have been slashed too.
We tried to tell you this was happening, but there are none so deaf as those who will not listen.
As I said previously; "Assets, schmassets".

Point one.
My information comes directly from a mate who is currently managing at one of the clubs owned by Panthers (not one of the ones earmarked for closure/sale). I used the newspaper article to provide text, [inot[/i as sole source.
Point two.
What part of " They have been forced to cut the grant to the NRL side by $1 million, and I know for a fact that funding to their junior comps and local development have been slashed too" are you too thick to understand?
Nah, they're not in trouble. They just reckon that Penrith RLFC don't need the money.

So come on Dally, which Leagues clubs have INCREASED their NRL club funding in the last 5 years?
I can tell you for a fact:
Souths, Sharks, St's, Eels and now Panthers have all reduced them quite significantly.
