| This is quite possibly the most deeply thought out wind up on here ever, congratulations to you.
But a complete non starter. You'll never get fans to commit to a club thats going to be upping roots ever year, there's no future for them there. If the 'Globetrotters' could lay down a new team everywhere they stopped, then it may have more potential, but that won't happen either.

| Quote Wellsy13="Wellsy13"They do. They just think your idea is ridiculous, so much so that it is most likely that you are on a wind-up mission.
It would make more sense (and be one hell of a lot cheaper!) to have 7 seperate on the road games instead of the Magic Weekend, and stage them all in one place (so that that area has 7 games). You wouldn't have to pay for a squad and coaching staff of world superstars that no team could afford anyway under the salary cap.'"
Now that is an idea with some serious clout. I think maybe 7 is to much to start with. However say down where I am in devon there is a growing conference set up, lots of northern league types in the services or retired and stayed here. Perhaps 2 to test the water, say 1 in Exeter at sandy park or Exeter fc and say 1 at the pirates ground in Cornwall. That could work to boost the interest however I doubt it could ever get big enough to support a fully pro team

But they wouldnt be moving every year, it would be every three years as stated in the OP. How can you think some of the best players playing the greatest game, in an exciting style the way it should be and was made to be played, would not attract people to watch it?
And they would lay down a new championship one team everywhere they stopped, this is also stated in the OP. I believe rugby league is the greatest game but currently in the UK its behind football, union, tennis and cricket, this is exactly the sort of initiative that is needed to get the game out there, and to get a competitive international game.

I would love to be in charge and run the game, but sadly im not, so all I can do is come up with the good ideas and try and get them out there.

| Good ideas? L$ put loads if his own dosh into an expansion club. The RFL wouldn't bail out the crusaders it was be bought or go under. So knowing that the RFL aren't prepared to spend the money how on earth can you say an idea which expects them
to fork out millions is good!

As someone who has banged on about the marketing of the game in general and particularly in london I regret having to say this......but, come back when you have A GOOD IDEA
The London SL team has played in South East London, South West London, West London and now back in South West London.........not exactly globetrotting, but you get the picture. Skolars are now firmly settled in North London and average a few hundred fans per game.....and Quins plod along with the same average they have had since SL started....with a fair chunk of the 1,500/2,000 hard core supporters who treck to the stoop not coming from that area at all.....one poster on these boards will often spend 2.5hrs on public transport getting to home games and others can get to some AWAY games quicker than the stoop.
The success of the London team has been the games development....there are now many many clubs playing regularly in the south east and the kids are starting to come through.....but this is only because of the had work done by the community teams in association with the RFL over 15 years....not 3.
Point is, you've had an Idea............but not a very good one. It's not sustainable financially and would not benefit the development of the game long term.......
As for the Scorpians....I applaud what they have achieved in a short space of time, but they are mid table with 500 fans in the third tier of the competition.....I doubt Widnes will be too worried about them as a threat for a licence just yet.
As I say......you may think it's a good idea and to be honest I applaud anyone who thinks of new ways to expand the game and get more players/spectators....but this would be a financial and PR disaster. IMO that is.

Reading your posts, there are more and more compelling reasons for this.
Brilliant thread this - perhaps another idea would be to award the globetrotters 15 points for a try and give them every conversion (worth 9 points) in front of the post regardless of where or how the try was scored. Then for every infringement the opposing team makes, the player in question has to wear one clowns shoe (up to a total of two) any more and he is shot in front of the main stand.

| what i like about this 'trolling' is mixing the crazy and pointless like the globetrotters, with the nugget of a perfectly valid idea of targetting areas with 'development blitzes' with lots and lots of development officers going in to one place, getting the game played in schools, training coaches and refs etc, then moving to the next place.
