Players play in tight shorts. The ball is renamed the bigball. We replace the commentators with people affecting speech from 1970s bawdy carry on films. The referee is a lady whose top inexplicably keeps coming off.

I can see support for this. Surely 'Touch ball' would be more apt.

| When this came up a number of years ago, the best suggestion I saw was 'League Rules Football.'
Taking that a step further it would in practice become known as 'League Rules' and if LRF had as its stapline 'League Rules'! So you would always see "League Rules. League Rules'! How about that for positive branding?

Not just in union.
Hull FC have Shaun McRae as Director of Rugby. You'd think that (with the name "FC"icon_wink.gif we'd be championing that "Director of Football" title!

It's name after "where" it's from. Doesn't have to be the town.
Australian.
Gaelic.
American.
So you'd most likely go with Northern for Rugby League (as we were the Northern Union). The rules were made by a meeting of Northern clubs, unlike Rugby, where it was codified in Rugby school exclusively and went from there.

| The trouble with anything with Northern in the title is it just plays to the stereotype. Northern game for northerners. Now I love the north, I'm not ashamed of it I think it's brilliant but we're trying to expand here and show people we are for everyone.
So Brawlball it is.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting we should call it that. I'm saying it should have been called that to begin with rather than "rugby".
Wasn't Australian Rules originally called Melbourne Rules? If we'd have started as Northern Rules, we might have adjusted as time went on (well we probably would have, we did start off as Northern RFU).

I actually think "League Rules Football" makes more sense than Rugby League Football.
I just think if you take the word "rugby" away, we will stop being referred to in the media as "the other rugby" and start being talked about as something separate.

I agree with that. We should have changed it from the off and a lot of current problems wouldn't exist.
To Titanball.
