If you looked at the stats for Bailey, he would be lucky to play Super League, but people keep telling us (when it suits) that stats are not the be all and end all, and stats do not take account of game changing or influencing moments.



I'll wait until July next season (that's the norm isn't it?) before judging.

Maybe Batley consulted the stats on Moore and Amor because he doesn't see them play each week.



Why would he need to consult Bailey's stats? Couldn't he reach an opinion based upon, you know, watching him play rugby. Granted you can't glean the same information as you can from a spreadsheet but what the heck, I'm willing to give it a go.

People around here prefer reading spreadsheets. Soon the need to actually play the game will be rendered obsolete. The mathematicians will simply determine the outcome on a weekly basis.

How do you make an assessment on one player by using stats and not seeing him play? Yet say stats are irrelevant with another player because you have seen him play, even though those stats portray a worse player?

Sounds like the same basis the game has always been decided in the past.



The tins in the scorer's hut may have been replaced by new fangled digital read-outs but the concept for determining the victors basically remains the same.

when the history books are written about this period ni the years to come Kirkes name will be there for all to see 3 SL rings and at least 1 wcc medal he's played at Wembley and he's not finished yet.some of us on here re read the Headingley story and see names of players in cup winning teams,names that dont exactly roll of the tongue.Maybe supporters of that time will have said the same about one or two of those players like "how is so and so getting into this team ?"

IMHO, stats can only ever support what you see with your own eyes, otherwise you don't have the full picture as on their own stats can be very misleading, especially without knowing the number of minutes played.
