IMO McGuire took the wrong option. It stood out by way of its rarity. I don't reckon he'll ever be as quick as he used to but his all round play is far, far better these days.

I thought his kick whilst running at speed was exquisite and the best piece of individual skill of the whole night. It's good to have that particular skill in your locker to keep defenders guessing, not enough players utilise the kick past opponents nowadays. Anyone can kick a ball, but to weight it like BJB did at Cardiff last season and last night takes some doing. Maybe they could use him down at elland Road.

If you had been my recollection is that after the PTB when McGuire was tackled, we whipped the ball to the right, through & past the broken defensive line that McGuire's break had caused allowing Watkins to score easily.

Would the McGuire of old have scored on the break probably; did he panic & throw a speculative pass? No.

Did we score as a result of the break? Yes.

Therefore, in my book, McGuire has no cause to apologise.

Least of all to anybody on here.

McGuire is class and has been ever since he pulled the shirt on. He has to be up there as one of the top 3 Stand Offs this club has ever had.

Better than Sinfield ? ....so why is he playing scrum half ?

Let me be clear....McGuire is a brilliant talent and has scored more than his fair share of match winning tries....BUT even if he had scored here it was still a mistake.

His decision to 'go for glory' increased the chance of a mistake being made (BJB might have knocked on at the next PTB for example). Simples.

Who factors that in to a decision?







If we're going to get that picky, why is BJB more likely to knock on at the PTB than Hardaker is to drop a pass?
