| Would it be up to them to pay up? Silly question maybe, but might explain a couple of recent departures.

I think there should be some monitoring over who is playing. With the Hull FC debacle with Thackeray I would have thought that the RFL would have been monitoring this pro-actively. Not awaiting internet forum users to email the RFL...

| Aren't team sheets supposed to be submitted to the RFL before the fixture takes place?

Teamsheets are submitted to the ref before the game, who sends them off afterwards.
I agree that at a subsequent point, the RFL should have spotted this, but it would retrospective and changes nothing.
The onus and responsibility is 100% on the club to ensure players are eligible.

Spot on. The buck stops with the Director of football and Head Coach. Both of whom should be sacked. Incompetence of this level is clearly gross misconduct and both can be sent packing at no cost.

Unfortunately 2 wrongs don't make a right. The RFL is and has been a joke for a long time. What we probably suspected has now been confirmed in that we are also being run as a joke. I am struggling for words regarding Cannon & Ball. They pick the players team and deal with the transfers. Surely one simple question to Rochdale before taking on Mr Ostrich would have told us the situation. Or, like his name did we decide to bury our heads in the sand and hope it would go away! (Names have been changed to protect individual identities).

| i heard thisb rumour on here yesterday and i dismissed it as just a rumour cause i could not beleive we could not notice this.
this was a really big opportunity for us, chance to get to the quarters, maybe even the semi's if the draw came up for us.
we were trying to put a super league licence together, might as well throw that away.
how this could happen is really annoying, someone has to go for this.
when are we going to get another chance to get to the semi's of the cup.

Not if we are a Limited company.Mr Posner is usually quick to walk away when it looks like things may go belly up. Who can blame him though, who wants tarring with that brush.

If the outcome is those two leaving then im glad this has happened because WE CAN DO BETTER, were HALIFAX RLFC, founder member of RL, short term its awful, but at least we can build from finally hitting rock bottom, with some proper men looking after the Rugby League side of things.

Michael Steele has a hell of a job to sort this mess out, its clear his footballing management HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE.
Even if they RFL slap our wrists, we should have known, should have ok'd it, should have told them, it should never have come to this, what an absolute joke...'"
Some of the head in the sand brigade may finally realise what a lot of us have know for a few years now, that the club is run like a complete shambles from top to bottom. No one who joins the club in an off field capacity who is any good stays with the club. They are either forced out or see the light, unfortunatly it is then left to a bunch of buffoons who couldnt organise a pee up in a brewery.

| =#0040BFwhat an absolute disgrace, in my opinion :.
- The RFL should be held totally accountable, as they have just realised at 12.00pm about the error.
- Surely the player himself should have realised he had played in the previous round. Is he that daft?
- It is a genuine shame that Halifax did not pick this up.
I do mean that as it will have cost a substantial amount of money for food for sponsors etc etc
Money I presume that they cannot afford.
